At Haus Planning, we started with a simple aim: to make planning easy for homeowners.

We are a dedicated team of experienced town planners based in the North East. Our expertise bridges the gap between an architect and solicitor, so we can design your development to meet national, regional, and local planning legislation. This gives your project the strongest chance of gaining planning permission and building control consent, ideally the first time.

Do I need planning permission for my project?

Some minor developments, such as side or rear extensions, might not require planning permission depending on their size. We offer a free initial consultation to help you find out what applies to your project. However, all such developments will need building control consent, and we can advise you on the best way to secure this. We are not gatekeepers, so if you do not need permission, we will tell you honestly and offer advice free of charge, including on-site if needed.

Our aim is to submit your application within two to four weeks of surveying your property. Planning applications are typically decided within eight weeks, while building control applications can take up to seven weeks. Not every project needs planning permission, but all developments require building control consent. These applications can be submitted one after the other, or together if you want to save time. We will advise you on the best route during your initial consultation.
